Manitoba’s chief public health officer announced a record 240 people in the hospital with the coronavirus and a record-high provincial test positivity rate of 13.6 per cent on Tuesday.
A woman in her 30s from the Interlake-Eastern health region was among seven new COVID-19 deaths reported, the youngest person to die of the illness in the province to date. „This is a critical juncture for us,” said Dr. Brent Roussin. „No one’s risk is truly their own.” Roussin and Premier Brian Pallister have confirmed the province is considering extending Christmas break at schools by an additional two weeks to try to curb the spread In addition, Pallister said Tuesday that the province has hired security firm G4S Canada to boost its enforcement of COVID-19 regulations and issue tickets for rulebreakers, beginning on the weekend. |
